Does anyone know what implants over dentures are? What do thry mean?

Don't they have to take your dentures off to put implants in? Is this something new and does it feel and look good? What about the expense? Is it less than implants?

Does anyone know what implants over dentures are? What do thry mean?
Typically, a patient will have several dental implants placed into the jaw. Usually 2-6 implants will be placed (surgical procedure, implants screwed into bone)and allowed to heal for a period of 1-6months depending on the condition of the patients bone, there overall health and ability to heal. Once fully healed the implants are now fixated in the jaw and ready to anchor the denture. Depending on the number of implants placed, a denture can be made to clip into the individual implants, or a metal bar can be fabricated and attached inbetween the implants and the denture then fabricated to fit over the metal bar (Hadder bar) The hadder bar is typically more stable and provides more supprot for the denture, however it comes at a price. Usually, a minimum of four implants will be required, whereas with the "snap" to each implant option would only really require two implants.

If there is already a preexisting denture, many times it can be retrofit to the implants especially if there is no hadder bar. If there is going to be a bar between implants then more than likley you will need an intirely new denture to complete the process.

Overall nice way to go, 4-6 implants with a hadder bar. Youll be tearing into apples and corn on the cob, but I didnt say that!
