I need to get dentures. Do to many reason none of my teeth can be saved. They are all rotting. It is a matter of time before I have no choice and I have to get them!! I am only 33 and am really bummed out. There is no way I can get a partial or anything it has to be a full upper and lower set of dentures.
Right now I have an inffected tooth the one on the right of my 2 front teeth. So even though it isn't exactly in front it is still part of my front teeth. So it has to be pulled as soon as the infection clears. So MY QUESTION is do I go ahead and get all of them pulled since it has to happen at some point. Or do I lose a almost front tooth and try to see how long I can hang on to the rest of them. I already only have 5 teeth on the bottom. %26amp; 13 on top but a few of them are almost all black.
By the way due to caresource I have to wait a month after all my teeth are pulled before I can even get dentures. I really don't want to deal w/getting all my teeth pulled.
Dentures ?
Well if you have alot of money..i would get Dental implants there better then dentures
Reply:I'd get them all pulled now.... since your getting one pulled anyhow, may as well go ahead and let them do the rest. And having to wait a month is for the better... gives your gums a chance to fully heal and for any swelling to go down to ensure that you dentures fit. If you get impressions for them while you are swollen, they are going to be loose when you wear them normally... and due to the expense of dentures, you won't want to pay to get a 2nd set!
Who cares if people think you look stupid.. it's better for you. Rotting teeth can cause serious health risks and infection. Get them pulled now and get it out of the way!
Reply:i have exp with this detist thing, and not good ones eather, well what has the dentist tell you? and are you on assistance, my exp they will not pull if not needed or they will try and fill the bad oens out, if they feel its has ot be pulled then t ill be, you may eather end up with partils or full, i knwo im not realy expling hti sright, as theres lots more for me to say, but it depdns on what you whant to do, and if your a workikng person or on ow/odsp, me im on odsp, if you whant to keep yout teeth then do so and get partilas or do all, yes i l the same way i would look stupid but it not a long term thign, i htink it takes a coupek of weeks ot heal good, its been a long time fo rme,if you liek yo ucan meial me perosnly but let me knwo form were,so mabe i can explin beter and deatil babypapoos@hotmail.com
Reply:I'm sorry to hear you're losing your teeth at such a young age.
First things first. If you have an infected tooth it is best to deal with that immediately. Usually with tooth infections the bacteria doesn't completely "clear" even with antibiotics. The swelling should go down but the bugs are still in the tooth waiting to grow again. Tooth infections can be nasty and complicated. Remember how close your teeth are to your brain.
It sounds like finances are a concern otherwise I'd suggest having the one problem tooth extracted and getting a "flipper" to fill in the space.
Another possibility is to have an interim set of dentures made, have all your teeth out at once, and start wearing your interim set immediately after having your teeth out, wait 6 months (for your bone to heal and remodel) and then get your conventional set of dentures made. Your only additional cost is the interim dentures.
Just from a "guy who likes to eat" point of view. I'd just take care of the problem tooth and see if I can make it until the dentures are ready (live with the gap tooth grin, but be able to at least chew some food).
Reply:omg, i totally understand where you are coming from .. i dwelled on my situation for 6 months. then one day i got tired of not being able to smile. i work in a public atmosphere so i need my smile. i went to my dentist, got the impressions done on my top and bottom teeth. (molds of my exact teeth), then 2 weeks later i went in on a friday and had my top teeth taken out (8) of them, and had immediates put in. and im the happiest person on earth. i can smile big and to top it off, they look exactly like my old teeth, just a little whiter and a mouth full of them. Im happy and in about 6 wks i have to do my bottom (7) and im done. trust me the only people that will notice are the ones you tell. Other than that, no one will know.
Reply:If the dentists agree that none of your teeth are salvageable, I would get it done and get on with life. Dentures are not the worst thing in the world.
There will be some discomfort at first as well as the period of adaptation to learn to use dentures but the immediate gratification of new teeth will be well worth it.
Get it done!
feel free to contact me off the board if you want. I've had my dentures for 7 years
