How can I live with Dentures????

I have been told that following an accident, I will be needing a full set of dentures. I am worried that I will not ever have a close relationship with anyone again as Kissing will be hard. and who wants to kiss someone wearing dentures???? I am so worried. Can anyone help?????

Denise, the rumors about dentures are much worse than the actual dentures are. You have to keep a positive attitude and remember this is being done to improve your health and appearance. In a serious relationship dentures are part of you. If someone is so shallow they hold this against you then you do not want to be with that person.





There are no rules about disclosing that you wear dentures. It is entirely up to you whether you tell or not or let your friend find out on their own. You will get used to wearing them and that is how people will see you- with teeth. Even if they know you have dentures, they can only guess what you may look like without them. Should you decide to bring them into that part of your world is based entirely on your trust of them and of course you own self confidence.





Take it one step at a time. As a denture wearer myself, my husband saw me without teeth before I even saw myself. You have to work into this slowly and carefully. Do not ever lose sight of being yourself.
