I have no idea. Are you usually so gaggy? My Grandmother never wore hers for the same reason. There are only two things I can think of. Maybe they can shorten them for you. But that might make it so that you can't use them to eat. The other is try spraying your throat with something like Chloraseptic. It will numb your throat and maybe you can get them in long enough to get used to them.
Reply:Sounds like your bottom dentures are to long you need to go back to you dentist and have him or her file them down for you...
Reply:Go back to the dentist and tell him perhaps they are to long (big) for your mouth. The lower plate you never really get use to. The upper plate stays in place pretty good and has never given any trouble. But, the bottom,I will never be happy with. Good luck to you.
Reply:When you first put them in, be sure you breath thru your nose until you get them in comfortably. If that doesn't help, go back and see if they are fitting correctly.
Reply:Your lower denture probably needs to be adjusted (shortened) in the back. Sometimes if they go back too far you can gag. Also, lower dentures don't have the suction that an upper denture does, so they may "float" around a little more, also causing you to gag.
