How do you un-stick the dental adhesive that was first used with immediate dentures?

I just got immediate top dentures and the periodonist used some type adhesive. I can loosen the denture and can have it mostly out, but it's stuck to the very back gum socket (where the molar was) because of the adhesive.

It's hurts too much to just yank the denture out, so is there a was to dissovle the adhesive? And if not, how long can an immediate denture stay in after it's first put in place (The dentist won't be in his office for a few days)

Thanks in advance

A PERIODONTIST extracted your teeth and placed an immediate denture, with adhesive in it, no less???

Call your general dentist and schedule an appointment. If he's the one that's out for a few days, call the office number anyway. There should be a 'in case of emergency' number on the recording/with the answering service... and use it.

Immediate dentures should be removed (and put back) after 24-48 hours. Although they act as a 'band-aid', you're sure to have what is known as 'sore spots' by now and must be going out of your mind!

If you do manage to remove it by yourself, you may not be able to get it back in, since you will swell a bit from the gums 'resting' after being snuggled in the denture... it's best to have a professional take care of you.........

Best of luck~
