I am thinking about getting dentures made at george brown collegein toronto. They charge around 250. a plate.?

I only need lower as I already have upper. I have had no bottom teeth for years. I understand these will be made by students but it seems pretty cheap. Is the material cheap? 250. is still alot of money for me on a limited income. Has anyone had dentures from there?

I haven't had dentures made there...but I would imagine they have suprvisors who monitor the work done.

$250 is a REAL good price.Often it's double that...at the very least.
Reply:Believe me, when it comes to dentures, especially lowers (they're much harder to fit), you don't want cheapest cause you get what you pay for. On the other hand, if you go high end, you can't get what you pay for. You want those chompers to fit tight and fit right!

600 - 1000 bux, I'd say
Reply:I live in the USA but that sounds almost TOOOOO cheap. But then again we have students that take automotive classes %26amp; you can let them work on your car for free,(body work ,or mechanical ) and it ussually comes out better than most repair shops will do. I'd give it a chance as they will most likely be putting more effort into perfection than a shop that has 2000 patients and dont care if you come back.
Reply:No... I haven't.

My suggestions:

1) Call George Brown or visit the facility.

2) Ask for a technical representative or an instructor, and have her/him explain what differences you can expect... if any.

3) Ask her/him what material %26amp; process they use, and how is it different from the industry standards.

4) You can double check this information by calling a competitor... ask the salesperson to explain any differences there might be, and your potential risks (if any) if you were to buy from George Brown.

Hope this helps.
Reply:No problem with the price as they do not charge for labor. All lower dentures are a bear as they don't have suction. You will probably get a better fit there than in many offices but will take a lot more time. Go for it if you have a the time!! Doc W
