No you are not weird at all. It is normal to have those type of problems when your dentures don't fit properly.

The only solution would be to see a denturist and get their expert opinion.

They could recommend a more fitting paste for your mouth and dentures, or they might have to alter your top dentures for a better fit.

Reply:It sounds like they may not actually fit your mouth correctly. You should go back to the doc who made and fitted them for you and talk to them about the problem you're having. They may be able to adjust them to make them fit better, which might solve your problem. Good luck!
Reply:I know someone who had the same problem. But the dentures were too big. Maybe you should get them resized.
Reply:I have a really bad gag reflex and had a lot of trouble when I first got mine. Most of mine was in my head though! :-) Try gluing them in with some Fixodent or Polygrip--whatever you want to use. Then they can't come out. Also, it might be possible for your dentist to grind them down some where they're not as thick or go back as far in your mouth. Definetly talk to your dentist if the glue doesn't help. That's what they're there for. Mine don't bother me at all anymore and I've had mine about 4 months. Good luck!

Seriously though i doubt your dentures are too big, however, they may be going too far back on the top, and the dentist may be able to take a little bit from the back edge so it isn't tickling your soft palate.

Is a while only a couple of months? because it may require some persistance and practice.

So yea its a bit nuts to have problems with the top and not the bottom, but the first things i'd try would be 1.take it to the dentist and get the denture thinned out in the palate (so its presence is not so noticable) 2. get a little taken off the back edge (not too much though or it might lose a bit of suction) and 3. Persistance! practice wearing it for 2 hours then have a break

then wear it for 2 and 10 minutes

build up your tolerance

do something to keep your mind off it. its bloody hard but its might be the only way.
Reply:Hey the main reason could be that your upper denture is over extended near the palate. So whenever there is too much of palatal movement you start gagging.

Probably all you have to do is go to your dentist and ask him to trim the upper denture from behind.
Reply:drop some change on implants. it's about $30k but you won't have to worry about the palatal coverage and you don't have to take them out ever. it's expensive but worth it!
