I mean if your going private or on the NHS, i assumed low quality dentures are cheaper but i heard now all dentures are same price, is this true?
Are all dentures the same price or can you get low quality dentures for a cheap price?
I should imagine that for something as important as dentures, it would be false economy to go for something cheap. You need them to be made perfectly tailored for your mouth and if they are not comfortable and adjusted specifically you will be in pain, you will be unable to speak properly as your tongue has to get used to its new position in your mouth, and you might have difficulties in eating. Dentures like anything else you buy vary considerably in price: remember labour costs are involved so if you go to top dentist in, say London, they are bound to be more expensive than if you go to an NHS dentist or a dentist out of town. If you need dentures and do not yet have a dentist, ring around a few, or look on the internet, there's bound to be a wealth of information out there on prices etc.
Reply:Yeah you can get low quality cheaper ones.....search on the net and you'll find price lists n stuff!!
Reply:Unless you are on any type of benefit (income support, job seekers, working tax credit either single persons, or family) then you will have to pay the NHS fee for dentures which is £194.00. This is the standard price of dentures on the NHS nothing lower. You would get them done for free if you were on any of the benefits mentioned above.
Privately our surgery charges approximately £500 for a set of dentures (upper and lower) but this can vary from surgery to surgery.
So in answer to your questions all dentures are the same price on the NHS, unless you get help with treatment costs.
