Help dentures?

i need dentures will soon and was wondering, is it better to have them put in right away or wait tell the swelling goes down ty.

Help dentures?
It is better to wait. This way you don't have to come back in to the office to get your dentures relined. This is not cheap. Make sure you go over prices for the reline. Most offices will have to send you dentures to a lab to have them relined. This will take a week or so. When you get them all done in the same day the dentures aren't going to fit that great. If you wait until the swelling has gone down from the extractions you will get a much better fit in the impressions, making a better denture. You may have to come into the office for a few adjustments but this takes maybe 5 minutes.
Reply:Had mine put in right away and was eating and chewing

same day.had to go back later for relining.

Have them put in right away,

Good luck.
Reply:It is best to have them put in right away. Having the dentures in will help keep pressure on the extraction sites. You can use them that day, eating and such. Just be careful. In about 6 months you will need a reline because the swelling will have gone down and they will be loose. Just a word of warning, and I'm sure your dentist has told you this. If you are getting a full denture on the bottom, that you will notice it is not as solid as having a full denture on the top. The bottom will rock and not seat right. It does not have the palatte like you do on the top to keep suction. Just keep that in mind. A lot of people lower denture is fine and they have no problems. There are some out there that do not like their lower denture. Implants work well for lower dentures. The clips hold the denture in place. But, also, not everyone is a candidate for implants.
