Do ill-fitting dentures cause cancer?

I was reading through questions and caught a reply to one that said loose dentures can cause cancer. Is that really true? I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but seriously? Thanks so much!!

Do ill-fitting dentures cause cancer?
Wow, that is one I have never heard.

Like one of the other guys answered, if that were true, a good many of the denture patients that I have seen would have developed cancer.
Reply:No loose fitting dentures don't cause cancer.
Reply:If the dentures cause repeated injury to the gum tissue, it is possible.
Reply:Sounds out ragious

It seems that since they don't really know what causes cancer they are saying that everything does, so that they can tell you that they were right.
Reply:Chronic trauma, such as that caused by ill-fitting dentures, can indeed cause cancer. It doesn't happen overnight, but it does happen. It doesn't happen every time someone wears ill-fitting dentures, but it does happen. Not very often, but it does happen.
Reply:no maam their is no such thing if there was half of my patientwould have cancer and die . that's a BS. advise don't belive what people say untile u see it with ur own eyes. word of tounge is like poisen.

no u'll will never have cancer because of lose denture
Reply:WHEN DENTURES ARE ILL-FITTING, AFTER MANY YEARS, THE TISSUE WHICH SUPPORTS THOSE DENTURES, BEGINS TO SUFFER FROM TRAUMA. REPEATED TRAUMA, SUCH AS SEEN IN A TOBACCO CHEWER, CAUSES TRAUMA IN THE EPITHELIUM, AND EVENTUALLY MOUTH CANCER.

CANCER FROM ILL-FITTING DENTURES IS RARE, BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE.
