How do you get used to dentures, never worn them before .dreading the thought?
The only way is to wear them constantly. The longer you wear them, the sooner you will adjust to them. Good Luck!!!!
Reply:id say stay with the gaps in your teeth !
Reply:all I know is that you should do what you can to keep your teeth if you still have them, brush, floss, use fluoride mouthwash.

It is possible to keep your teeth, my grandma is like 87 or 88 yrs old, and she still has ALL her REAL teeth.
Reply:You'll gradually get used to them. It should only take a few weeks before you are totally comfortable with them.

You may need to have them "readjusted" if you have too much trouble with them but you should gradually get used to them.

Take them out from time to time if they bother you. Soon you'll be leaving them in longer and longer.
Reply:just put them in and were them as long as you can stand it. then take them out. do this often. you will get use to it
Reply:get you some fixadent adheshive and put a few drops on either side it will hold them in place untill you get use to them.. That is how I got use to mine.My hardest thing was eating...but with the cream it was simple...Goodluck with yours...
Reply:Hi

I recently got dentures you can either wear them or you cant. I could not wear the standard detures as everytime I put them in they made me sick. I opt for paying extra for chrome ones which are lighter and slimmer and fit tighter therefore you do not notice them as much. I can only wear them for a period of time as I get a slight headache with them in.
Reply:Hello biker,

Just because there are big gaps doesn't mean dentures are inevitable.

There may be a bridge that can be done to close the spaces or braces.

If some teeth can be saved, a partial denture can be made which still enables you to taste and chew food normally.

Complete dentures are the thing to avoid if possible.

See a dentist and find out your options.
Reply:Dentures unless they are made by a skilled dental lab may not fit correctly. Unless the dentures are made correctly getting use to them is impossible. Often this is the case especially the lowers. When I was in need of something done drastically I looked at all options. I was wearing a the time a dental partial or flipper as they sometimes call it. I hated how the food would go immediately under it and often a trip to the restroom had to take place before i could finish a meal. I did some research and found out that once the teeth are gone that the bone in the jaws will begin to deteriorate. This is a fact. That is why I opted instead of dentures I got dental implants. Even if you can afford at least 2 which is the minimum will save your bone. Plus the denture they make will snap onto the implants making having to learn to use them a piece of cake. They are secure and do not move (no glue is needed)

See my avatar? That is my new smile. I have 8 implants on the top and 6 on the bottom. My new teeth screw onto the implants and they do not get removed even for cleanings.

Read this link: This link is the reason I chose not to get dentures.
