If I have dentures, should I still brush my gums?

I very VERY rarely wear my dentures. I can eat better without the darn things. They don't fit well either, no matter how many adjustments have been made. I bought a tongue cleaner that I use, but I'm just wondering if I should still brush my gums and/or tongue.

Since my gums are open to air and food, with no crevaces as when people have teeth where plaque and other things collect between and can damage areas, this is a bit different.

Thank you, in advance, for your answers!

If I have dentures, should I still brush my gums?
Yes you should still brush your gums because though there aren't crevasses that plaque can get stuck in, you can still get gum disease which you don't want.
Reply:Your gum does not need brushing, but you will benefit from brushing your tongue and maybe having a mouthwash.
Reply:yes.

if they get infected, and get bad enough, the infection can spread to your jaw and other places. (if the infection gets in your blood it can be sent all over the body, causing very very bad results.)
Reply:I brush mine
Reply:of course! you should still clean your gums and your tongue at least twice a day or before going to bed. Although you don't have much areas for plaque retention, other microorganisms such as fungi or other food debris may still retain in the irregularities of your gums and tongue surfaces that may cause problems in the future. You may use toothbrush with softer bristles for less discomfort.
