What can I do about bad fitting new dentures?

I have worn dentures for 10 years and it was time for new ones. First off I put them in and the top and bottoms didn't fit, so he had them reset the bottom teeth. Now, when I eat I cannot close my mouth if I try I can't move my bottom Jaw a 1/8 of an inch. The Plates themselves fit really well, but the teeth are so big I have no room in my mouth. Do I go back to the dentist or just suffer with them? I can't go out to eat with friends, I tried that and I refuse to eat with my mouth open. So I made excuses for not eating. What do I do?

IF IT'S BEEN 10 YEARS SINCE YOU HAD THEM MADE THEN IT WOULD BE WISE TO GET A NEW SET MADE RATHER THAN SPENDING GOOD MONEY TO TRY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.
Reply:you need to go back to your dentist without a doubt. head straight there now. you may never be able to eat in comfort if dentures do not fit right it is a concern and your dentist may need to send them back to the lab technician to shorten the teeth and make you more comfortable. just tell the dentist you are nto happy with them because i know how expensive dentures can be and you neede to get your money worth so take them back and explain your problem.

good luck
Reply:Yes you need to go back to the dentist and discuss these things. It sounds like they have opened your vertical dimension too much and you do not have enough Freeway space between your dentures.

You need to discuss the problems with your dentist.
Reply:One you need a adjustment and you may need the dentist to

put in smaller teeth. But definatelly an adjustment, I worked in a denture office for many years.......go back to the dentist.you paid money for them and it should be included in your fee. if not get your money back but you will have to return those dentures. If you have any mouth sores youll need an adjustment.......

The teeth may have to be reset again?

If you ever get a crack in the middle of the denture youll need a reline.
Reply:As others have said- go back to the dentist. Take the old dentures with you to illustrate the size of the teeth and be sure to explain exactly what the problem is. Even take some food with you show the dentist.

Since you have 10 years experience wearing dentures you know what they should feel like.

I would insist on an entire new set be made rather than trying to get this set to fit.
