I can not wear dentures after bottom teeth were removed?

Will the dentures be ok cause my mouth is swollen

I can not wear dentures after bottom teeth were removed?
LYNN,

THE TISSUES HAVE TO HEAL AND GO BACK TO NORMAL BEFORE A FINAL IMPRESSION CAN BE TAKEN TO MAKE THE DENTURE. IF YOU HAD HAD IMMEDIATE DENTURES THEN IT WOULD HAVE KEPT YOU FROM GETTING AS SWOLLEN AS YOU DID.

YOU'LL BE GOOD FOR AN IMPRESSION IN A FEW WEEKS. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR.
Reply:Of course you can wear them and you need to wear them as much as you can. If you are having a problem with them, you need to call your dentist immediately. The plate may need to be adjusted. My older sister had this done years ago. Right after having the bottom teeth pulled, the dentist inserted the dentures so she could get used to them and prevent the gums from receding further.
Reply:No, they won't fit properly and can cause chafing and irritation to your gums. Wait a couple of days for the swelling to go down before you put them back in.
Reply:You just need to let the swelling go down before you try wearing them again. Until then, stick with soft foods. Cold foods are good on swollen gums, so maybe it's a good excuse to treat yourself with a bit of ice cream! :-)
