My wife is in her 50's and her dentures won't stay in place because she has lost so much of her jaw bone.

The bone in her jaw has deteriorated to the point that she is borderline at getting dental implants. It is also affecting her ear and giving her pain. Implants with attached dentures are extremely expensive. The lowest quote we got was $25K up to $35K. We haven't got the money and can't get it. I am retired and my wife is off work so we can't finance it. Where do I turn now?

I don't know your wife's specific condition, but 25K to 35K seems VERY high.





Now maybe she needs a lot of implants, but there should be many cheaper alternatives in the 5-10K department.





Of course that is also area dependent.





Without implants though, denture stabilization is sometimes quite difficult, even with denture adhesives, and even a new set.
Reply:My advice would be to get fitted for new dentures. It is unsafe to have improperly fitting dentures. It raises your risk for cancer.

Reply:That is alot of money for an implant supported denture. It depends on how many implants they want to do, how many bone grafts, and other things but that price is still too high because of all the fees that the dentist is adding onto it. I was quoted at $2,000 an implant + $250 for each bone graft, then they will retrofit my denture to snap right onto my implants. I'm only getting two implants on my lower for right now, that is all I can afford for right now. Is she getting a bar support implant system? If so thats why its costing a crapload too.
