How long before removing dentures for a few hours?

Hello all,

I just got 14 teeth extracted on Friday and my full dentures placed (upper and lower). My dentist told me to remove them in 24 hours, clean and put right back in. I was curious how long I should wait before removing for maybe a couple of hours? I am still in quite a bit of pain especially when I try to talk or eat. Just want a couple of hours to relax without the swelling not allowing me to put my teeth back in.

They might want you to wait a week or so. If you take them out for a few hours now, your gum tissue might swell so much that you can't get your denture back in. The best thing to do is to call your dental office %26amp; ask them.
Reply:Leave them in. I know it's painfull, I'm sorry. They will fit better. I only take mine out to brush.
Reply:good question, really! -- jas
