I think I want partial dentures... my teeth just continue to chip?

I am 30 now, and it seems like everytime I eat, I am chipping or breaking my teeth, the ones on the sides and in the back. I had a lot of fillings when I was young, I am thinking about partial dentures, can anyone give me a good Idea of what the porcedure is and how much this usally runs....? I have already had about 7 teeth removed now..., any good and reasonable denist in the Knoxville, Tenn area willing to drive 60 miles around... to find one

I think I want partial dentures... my teeth just continue to chip?
Teeth chip for a number of reasons: decay, trauma, grinding and bad habits. A dentist will assess these reasons to limit further damage. Teeth with large fillings may be structurally weak. Highly suggest placing crowns on the key anchor teeth prior to impressions for partials. Additional crowns may then be placed as time/finances permit. Oral hygiene is and will continue to be critical. Be sure to properly clean the clasping before placing in mouth. The clasp is often overlooked and the acid never removed. Whatever tooth is clasped is often the next filling/extraction if not cleaned well. I am from Michigan, cant help in Tenn. The fee in my area is approx $1000/partial for a metal-based partial and approx $630 for a Flexite flexible partial. I like the latter due to price and appearance-no metal hooks in the smile. The nylon base is extended to form a flexible hook and may blend in with the color of your gums to provide a natural smile. My patients really like these, but there are some drawbacks. If you lose a tooth after fabrication of partial, start over (more $)! Patients report these are very comfortable. Hope this helps!
Reply:SOME TEETH NEED TO BE EXTRACTED. THEN THERE IS A WAITING PERIOD FOR THE GUMS AND BONE TO HEAL. THEN IMPRESSIONS ARE TAKEN. THE LABORATORY MAKES THE PARTIALS AND THE DENTIST DELIVERS THEM.
Reply:Partials are a good idea when you have several teeth missing. With them you can chew your foods better and have a good digestive system. Impression are taken of your teeth and then made into a model so the frame work can be made. Then the frame has to be fitted and your bite has to be registered so the partials will fit and you can bite down correctly. When all of this has been done you are scheduled to pickup your partials and placed in your mouth. There are partials that are made with a metal frame or ones with an acrylic frame too.
