Can anyone tell me about Dentures? What's best to get?

I am in the process of starting the I need Dentures phase of treatment. I am wondering if there are 'good or bad' dentures? What are the best, and what are the costs? Do they make them in plastic or??? I was just wondering what people with experience know.. about all this.. procedure.. etc..

Can anyone tell me about Dentures? What's best to get?
Getting dentures is probably one of the hardest decisions you will ever make. The more you know and understand going into the process the better your outcome will be.

Not all dentists are skilled at fitting dentures so you need to find one who is competent and can show you satisfied patients. I suggest you start asking relatives and close friends about their dentists. Ask if they know people who have dentures and try to make personal contact with them. (this is through friends and relatives) Find out about their likes and dislikes and how easy their dentist was to work with.

Price is not the only thing to shop when getting dentures- you need to know what you are getting for your money and what the "extras" will cost. Things like follow ups, adjustments and relines. If not included in the original price of your work, they can easily break the bank if you are paying for them as you go.

You need to know exactly what your dentist is planning and get it in writing with an accurate time line. Ask if you will getting immediate dentures, how they do their anesthesia, will they do extractions all at one time or staged over several weeks or months?

Also this will be a huge emotional change as well as a physical one. You will need to get your head together on this and learn more about being called a denture wearer- as if this is such a horrible thing. It is self improvement.

Anything I can do to help- ask!
Reply:get a complete set made by a professional as prescribed by a competant orthadontist whio specializes in dentures
Reply:If you are going to get dentures, visit a few different dentists. Prices will vary, depending on how many teeth need to be extracted and the quality and type of denture you're looking for.

Dentures can be made entirely of plastic or you can choose to have the "teeth made of different kinds of materials.

Totally plastic ones are cheaper than porcelain, but their quality is usually poor. Porcelain teeth are expensive but, they last a long time and IMO are a much better choice.

If a dentist tells you, you will have to have the dentures "relined" after a few weeks, they're feeding you a line and you should find a different dentist, to do the work.
Reply:if you have the money get dental implants. They leave more sensation on the bone so they feel more like your real teeth.
