MY poor mother lost her teeth tring to put me through college.( i didnt know till i graduated)SO i saved my moneys and bought my mother an expensive set of dentures.

I have some questions on the fittings. She says she has trouble.SAys she has a whole lot in her mouth. I think thats normal? SHe says the top denture feels too bulky in back is that normal too?

ANd will the bottom on be a little sore as she gets use to them?

She had troubles swallowing. So i made my mother practice swallowing water 4 now .IS all of this normal? or should she go back 4 adjustments?

I need some info on dentures.?
Hi Star! You sound like a great kid!!!!!! Listen, dentures are very difficult to get use to. I've done dentistry for 25 years and everyone is different. Try this. Have your Mom use a dental adhesive like fixodent, put 4 drops the size of a large pea about 2 inches apart on each denture. Place the denture and her bite down. Sometimes you may need more. Meanwhile have her try to drink cool drinks. Hot coffee will melt the adhesive. Little by little try to get her to eat soft foods. All dentures NEED to be adjusted. The back may be too long and feel like they are gagging her or the bottoms may hurt. The dentist has to adjust them little by little until they are perfect. But the only way to know is for her to wear them for a period of time. Otherwise she will never know exactly where they hurt or are uncomfortable. Trust me. This takes time, but once, you get it right, she will be happier. Often dentures can take 4-6 weeks to get it right. The dentist must make tiny adjustments until it is right. This is all part of the price with NO extra charge. So take advantage and get it right. Sometimes people get upset because if feels like so much in their mouths. BUT I can promise you, once they wear them for a few months, they feel naked without them!! I have patients that only take them out to clean, rinse their mouth and put them back in right away. That is a sign of a great fitting denture. Please keep at it. If you have any other questions, need my help, PLEASE ask. I will help you in any way I can and you sound like you have a GREAT Mom and you are a Great kid. Bless you. Marie
Reply:Go back for an adjustment.

I think every set of dentures need adjustments because your mouth is constantly changing. . .especially the bottom.
Reply:see your dentist as many times as it takes to make her comfortable. I love my dentures.
Reply:better you go back to the dentist for whatever needs to be done, the are trained on this problems, they could help you %26amp; your mother
