I have to have temporary plastic partial dentures, what are these like?

I have deformed dental roots and im prone to abcesses. Today the dentist said i need quite a few teeth removing , clearly i was horrified, then he suggested temporary plastic dentures. Im worried what these may be like.

I have to have temporary plastic partial dentures, what are these like?
Partial dentures are ok for a short period of time, their not ideal for longer than 6 months or more as they have been made in a short amount of time, regular dentures can take up to 6-8 weeks to make.

If we extract teeth or some body requires abridge but we need a healing period P/D are made for the patient until the gums have healed up.

P/D look good and will do the job required until regular dentures can be made for you,
Reply:I do not have any experience with partial dentures but I have full dentures. They are not like real teeth other than in appearence and after you get used to them, you can chew and speak and laugh and all of the things you did with real teeth.

Try to keep an open mind and think positive about this, if you have health problems with your real teeth then having them removed may help make you healthier.

You say temporary plastic partials- what did he was say was coming next?

Best of luck,

You can do it.

Reply:I had these when I had a bridge fitted. The were little false teeth with wires at the end that clipped over existing teeth to keep in place. They actually looked ok. Had to go back a few days later just to have them filed, as they were a bit sore on the gums. But not half as bad as I imagind it all. Got good looking teeth now.
